Today, on National Wear Red Day, I am excited to kick off my Go Red Woman of Impact campaign in support of Go Red for Women. Throughout the next nine weeks, I will be working to make the greatest impact possible on the future of women’s health.

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. Heart disease and stroke can affect a woman at any age (I was 37), making it vital for all women to understand their personal risk factors, family history, and how to advocate for their own health care.

As a heart attack survivor, I have long been an advocate for women’s heart health, research into prevention and treatment, equity in health care, and empowering women. If you would like to support my campaign and help me reach my fundraising goal of $20,000 (in honor of Go Red’s 20th anniversary this year), please make a donation here in honor of Wear Red Day and women everywhere.
